In Praise of Epson

    My 4 month old Epson r200 (bought from Amazon) started feeding pages crooked and jamming so I phoned the Epson support line on a Saturday afternoon. They answered very quickly and said they'd have an engineer out to my house (I live in Dublin) on the Tuesday - to fix or replace my printer on the spot. They didn't need to see any proof of purchase - he just took the printer serial number down the phone.

    Anyway the engineer arrived on Tuesday - I was a bit worried as I had compatible cartridges fitted. Turns out that the problem was a tiny bit of aeroboard packing (from the compatible cartridge!) had jammed the innards. My wife said he fished it out with a long tweezers (I was at work). Needless to say he never found out where it came from.

    It really made a pleasant change from the levels of customer service I've generally come to expect from the IT/telecoms industry - Eircom - don't get me started!
