connecting laptop to pc

    hi folks,

    could anyone please tell me if i could and how to connect my laptop to my pc, both have Ethernet adaptors and i have a cross over cable but i dont know how to configure them. I just need it to transfer files from the pc to the laptop.

    Windows 98
    To share a folder in XP you just right click and pick "sharing and security" and allow it to be shared.

    Make sure you set them to be on the same ip range i.e.

    Laptop 192.168.0.1
    PC 192.168.0.2

    ... and the same subnet mask - 255.255.255.0 should do fine.
