I want to buy either a Canon Ixus 500 or Ixus 50. I have read on dp reviw that Ixus 50 is new with enhanced technology and smaller but Ixus 500 is solid reliable and takes better pictures. Has anyone any comments or experiences that would help make decision.
    Thanks

I've got an Ixus 430(a 410 from the states) its the 4.0MP version of the 500 and i gotta say its a class camera. very strong and i feel i can take it anywhere-i'm a student and generally keep it in my pocket all the time. I find it very small and sturdy. Its been on nights out and that and taken a few knocks. It is miles better than my friends mini mju which has several dents in it and its only about 2 months old. You generally wont find anyone here who has the two so it'll be hard to draw comparisons but i can only give you my experience. I find it small enough and particularly if you have big fingers you still will be able to get to all the buttons.
    just my €0.02!

I used to have an ixus 500 (till someone stole it :( ) and i most sya i thought it was a very nice camera. Took really good pics and as the viper says its nice and small. I used to keep it in my pocket all the time cuz is pretty much the same size as yur wallet.

One thing though, before i was parted from my camera, the whole thing crashed and wouldn't work, and i had only had it like 3 months. By crashed i mean, i turned it on one time and then all of a sudden it started making bad sounds and threw up and error code.

i just got an IXUS 50 in work today, it's a really small little camera with a huge lcd screen, so if you like them compact and easy to show friends the pictures on the screen rather than make prints I'd say go for the ixus 50

what price are you looking at for the ixus 50?
