    Hi All,

I have begun playing a fair bit of snooker in the last 6 months. I used to play regularly YEARS ago, and was "ok" at it! However, in all of the games I have played in the last 6 months, I am barely hitting a thing!!!!...and am not getting visibly better with practice!!

I recon I need someone to take a look at what I am doing and give me a few pointers as Im getting more and more frustrated with myself!!!

Does anyone know of anyone / anywhere that offers snooker lessons/coaching??

    Ta,
    Jab

Well tbh jab, if you want to get playing a bit more steady you really need to practice. I know it may sound boring and you may not think its worth it if you are only having the odd game with mates and that but if you want to consistently take a few quid of them (happy days) it is imperative!
I played a lot about 4 years ago but then totally stopped. Since I have returned to playing I can still pot good balls but not consistently and even though its only a once or twice a week match i'd play I have put in about 1 hour, three times a week of practice. I'm now back to knocking in the odd 70-90 break but constant 30's 40's and 50's.
You should go in to your local hall and put all the balls spread (uniformly ish) around the full table and then pot every ball until the table is clear and then start again. Also when you have done that a few times you should then try the line up. This is where you place the colours on their respective spots and the reds in a straight line between the black and just above the blue i.e. 5 reds between black and pink, 8 resd between pink and blue and 2 remaining reds in uniformity with the other reds just after the blue (heading towards the brown spot). When you are making breaks of 30 or 40 from that simple line up position (its easier than you think, just keep slow and don't move until after you've struck the cue ball) give me a shout back and we'll progress if you'd like. Where are you based?
