Nicholls Vs. Pipe - A disgrace

Am I the only one that thinks the welfare of the horses is the last thing on the minds of Pipe and Nicholls as the battle for the trainers championship. They are running some horses for the 3rd time in the week and others for the second day in a row. Horses that looked to be feeling the effect of a long season are being forced to endure even racing when they badly need a break.

In the first 3 races at Sandown tomorrow Pipe has declared 22 of the 48 runners. He plans to run Medison today and tomorrow, Joacci has already ran twice this week and will run again tonight. Inch Pride and Commercial Flyer are both running for the 4th time in 10 days. I'd say fair enough to the horses that have run well, but for those that looked out of sorts its cruel making them run again.

I can see where you are coming from alright. However with so little between the 2 and with tomorrow being the end of it I can understand it to a certain extent.

Most of these horses won't run until oct/nov of this year, after tomorrow. As for the supposed enthusiasm of Nicholls and Pipe, it's always been an ego thing.

It's the longer term damage to the horses that it may do, especially the younger ones. Look at horses like Therealbandit and Our Vic this season after been pushed too far in their novice season, they are shadow of the horses they looked like being last year.

I agree. IMO the regs covering this are too lax. All they are short of doing is taking over a meet themselves, hwoever protests like this will have v little effect :-{ .
