Not yet. Only sent the bank draft last friday so it probably won't even have arrived yet. I've no idea how I got that much money to be honest. I owe the parents a few hundred now though, but that won't take too long to work off if I can sell my guitar and amp. :) I'm guessing you wouldn't mind a spin of that either then? :D

Hell yeah i want a spin of her! All bring my stupid Ibanez and stupid flextone and stupid pedal board... I want a les paul!

Nice. Can't say I could justify spending €1500 on a guitar. Just make sure you get a nice wide strap and for the love of God, get strap locks for it!

Nice! Although contrary to Feylya, I can justify spending €1500 on a guitar.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye, but you have a €1K+ amp to run it through. Ya rich *****

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

I last priced my amp at €2300 tbh. ;)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    €2300 = €1k+ tbh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

€1k+ could be anything over €1k... I'm just clarifying the exact amount.

Isn't that what this board is for?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I thought it was for showing off your scallops? ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

No, it's all about how many strings you have on your guitar. Only those with 8 String 36 fret monsters are worthy.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

You only have 6 strings though (at the moment like). I have 7 :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Yes, I'm not phallically re-inforced enough yet.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I think young It Wasn't Me is now though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

    Congrats dude!

I think it was quite a good price actually, considering how much Gibsons go for these days (especially in the UK and Ireland).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

The last thing you want is to see/hear me tootle away through my few scales on a guitar like that. I have to say, it's by far the prettiest guitar I've ever had the privilege to know I'll be playing! :D Now I just have to be a good enough guitarist to justify it... pooh. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

Now I just have to be a good enough guitarist to justify it... pooh.

Just enjoy it and play/abuse it every day - you dont need to justify anything to anyone.

You're now the owner of a Gibson ffs, you're allowed to show off ;)

This man is 100.02% correct! If you enjoy playing, then there's no need to justify it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

I just knew that i could push it that .02% extra ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Yeah, you're that much more correct than usual. Hell, look at me! I've got an amp worth €2300 and a custom built guitar on the way, and I can hardly play! It's all about the love of playing and nothing else tbh.

Honestly a good guitar sound pretty decent through any amp. I've down plenty gigs with smaller amps and still got the tone I wanted. A quality guitar is number one the list of things IMO.

Having a nice amp is handy too...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

i've always experienced the opposite..i'd spend ages at rehersals trying to get a good sound froma**** amp.. but go home plug in and there ya go great sound from what was then a marshall

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 800 ✭✭✭dabhoys

I did a gig once with a 15 watt fender bass amp and a distortion pedal and I had someone come up after and tell me they liked my tone!!!

A quality instrument is worth it in the long term for many other reasons too...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

oh yeah i'm not sayin your wrong just tellin u about my experience.. the amps i was usin were really bad tho either way..peavy bandit 120 in bad need of a service...need i say more.. i reckon a good guitar is essential to i'm floggin my kinda mid range ones and just buyin a strat **** it

Yeah. The Instrument is they key thing. I'll be playing my Les Paul through a solid-state Marshall for the foreseeable future. :p And on a related note, my Warwick is being shipped on Thursday. :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

It's true, your guitar is the most important thing. No matter how great an amp you might have, chances are you'll mainly be playing through a little practice amp a lot of the time. I play through the microcube most of the time, despite my lovely Mesa Boogie.

Thankfully, sometime in autumn, I'll have the guitar to end all guitars to play through the microcube. And probably, the first person on boards to own their very own custom built axe! Unless I'm wrong, and there's someone else who has a custom axe already.

Don't dis that amp. You know it would destroy your Mesa anyday :p

Oh and I'd like that Fender amp back at some stage...
