    www.dell.ie/do

    express shopping
    change the type to inspiron
    sort by the price column
    add to basket
    select further €79 euro discount

    total = 693 - 79 + 50 (shipping) = 664 + VAT = ~€800

If your company deals with Dell I would check out the employee purchase scheme first .. www.dell.ie/epp ;)

Yeah, I've been waiting for a few months for them. They should have released it this month, but I'm hoping may 5th now.

I can vouch for the last ALDI one too, I got it on Sept2 and it's been great, excellent battery-life, games ability, I make music, video's, copy DVD's etc... I've had good help from their tech support too.

I got it for 1500e at the time (the closest equivalent DELL - I say closest because even DELL wouldn't match the 80Gb HD!- was about 2800e, don't remember if that even included VAT), but I believe they(ALDI - that is;)) sold some for 1299e at Xmas too.

Thanks to everyone for the replies, I might wait for the next ALDI offer (a few more weeks to increase the funds as well) it looks like past offers were very good value and the spec is top notch ;)

Dell's laptops seem to be rather cheap. Has anyone had any experience with their after-sales service though?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,061 ✭✭✭dawballz

If you're talkin about their customer service it's crap. I have heard numerous people complaining that you are put on to an indian who doesn't speak proper English, who you can't understand, and he can't understand you.
Someone I know said the Indian got angry with him and started shouting just because he couldn't understand him.

Yeah, I've heard negative things about dell's customer service too. Anyone got an idea where would be the cheapest store to buy a laptop in the Munster: Cork/Waterford area? Or would it be cheaper to buy it in the UK?

Dell's customer service is brutal. I spent three days trying to cancel an order they buggered up on me. They are quick enough to take your money, not so quick about giving it back.
In fairness the only remotely helpful people I encountered in Dell were the Indian people.

Try the Official HP/Compaq shop on Ebay.co.uk. I got mine for 2/3 retail with some careful bidding.

Thinking of buying a notebook from PC World in Waterford. Does anyone know what their customer service is like or has anyone bought from them in the past?

I saw a couple of complaints on complaints.com about their customer service so I'd be interested to know if it's a bit on the dodgy side.

jesus lol ROFL ROFL ROFL THATS HILLLAROUS MAN shud b in jokes section
ahhhh come on indians are not that bad
aff course they are not going to speak in irish accent but its english at the end of the day :)

PC world will rip you off unless its a very good special offer.

Also bear in mind that most of the spotty youths in there will know less about laptops than my granny.
