    Looking for an application again.

We have an IS purchasing system in work, it details all our orders etc, however as a legacy and as a result of our old manual system we keep a paper receipt back up of the order numbers, its not really needed but it has come in handy once or twice in about three years ( as i dont completely trust the software)
Now two of the guys who shared the paper list have moved to different floors. So i was looking for a very simple (as they are a bit simple lol) way to have a typed list up on the server that 2 or more people can update without ever having to close it down, i.e user locking would mess the whole thing up.

Basically they would manually enter all the numbers down the side ( we use a printed pager generated by excel at the moment) and type in the job, date and supplier for the order. It is really a manual back up, and it could be printed when its full etc so the head guy can look at it.

Ie simple text editor, that update what 2 or more people typed in without the need for saving or the other to close down,
It would need a print facility, would also be handy if it could import from excel or somthing , some way to speed up the order numbers down the side.

I know its strange, I know our software does the job anyway, but anyone who has ever worked with auldfellas will understand why i need it, things should never change you know!!!!

    thanks again all

    Stoner

How about using a shared workbook in Excel? Two (or more) people can edit at the same time and you can get it to autosave how ever often you want.

This is a regular Excel file except while it is open click 'tools' > 'share workbook' > and select 'allow changes by more than one user'.

Not entirely sure how often changes are updated on remote PC's - best give it a shot and see how it works.
