Buddy of mine getting married in October, all the lads will be drunk, I mean in their early to mid 30's .... Stag is insisting on going to Liverpool, including going to Anfield (yawn).

Anyways, how can I make the best out of this situation.

Recommendations please on Nightlife for 'past it' young fellahs, accommodation, bars, casinos etc....and any other suggestions very welcome.

Cheers , or should I say 'Calm Down Calm Down'

I can actually help you here as I had mine in February there and did the same thing i.e match. I'm getting married abroad and because its far away and expensive, we had the stag early. But also because we didn't want it to clash with European football, we had it before it restarted (European football).

Anyway, if you're not a football head, there are 2 European competitions. And to cut a long story short, if Liverpool are involved in the lesser one, there is a chance that some scheduled Saturday matches are played on the Sunday instead. So watch out for that.

The first thing you need to do is book everything early. Once the fixtures are out, book the flights and hotels. There might be some fluctations in flights, I paid €123 for mine with Ryanair, they were €110 I think but started to move up. Then a week later Aer Lingus went down to €98 and within 3 days both airlines had upped them and they didn't come down again.

There is a hotel called the Dolby in Albert Dock. Its basic but cheap at £45 a room which you can fit 3 into, one double bed with one single bunk. This place will go quick especially on match days. There is a Holiday Inn beside it that's more expensive at £100 a room but has more rooms and easier to get to.

You probably are best looking to go for a match that is not a big match. I think 17 of us went and we were all able to get tickets to go. Mainly from the credit card line.

Cheers, we're into the football alright, so that's cool.

What about the few pints etc....any recommendations, restaurants, any unmanned lamp-posts etc etc...

    Thanks for help.

Well the one bar I liked before was Scruffy Murphys in Hanover Street. However that is closed and is now called Bar.Com. Still worth a visit. There's a few pubs around there that are good. One is called O'Neills or something like that, just directly across from bar.com. To be honest, I didn't like that but its big and full. On the side street between the two is a few more pubs including one called the Tequila Bar. And further up that street is a nice Indian restaurant we fell into and they didn't throw us out. But also is a row of nightclubs.

Friday night is a bit easier to get into places, less crowds etc. By the way, the women wear absolutely nothing even in negative temperatures and are all over the place Saturday night. People are absolutely lovely so you'll enjoy it. 2 pints came in at £3.10.

The other spot is around Matthew Street where that famous Beatles pub was that I can't remember. There's a few other pubs around there too. Another alright place to eat is Uncle Sams. Cheap and cheerful.

As for those other places that a group of lads may want to stray into, well just ask a taxi driver where they are.....

Stayed in Adelphi Hotel, smack bang in liverpool city centre.Went over 14 lads and not a problem last october.Got an internet deal which for whole weekend for 1 worked out at 79sterling including breakfast.Checkout their website for dates when you think you're going.

Heard some bad things about the Adelphi. I suppose you don't care on a stag trip but you do at least home that your room won't be broken into. So you just want to be careful about things like that.

We stayed in the travel inn which is nice and central.

Highly recommend a visit to the Lime Kiln on a saturday night. Its up near college square or something that sounds like that. Women there are simply sensational, sore necks guaranteed.

Highly recommend a visit to angels (stays open till 3am) - £10 in and £5 a dance - 3/4 crackers - the rest are dogs.
