Does anyone know if there would be a great chance of me being caught bringing back an americian laptop, now since the hightened security in dublin airport recently, only im leaving at the end of the week and hope that it may calm down a bit has anyone had any experience since then getting things past customs.

Think about what you are asking - increased security is for departures, not arrivals.

    You will be fine.

?? i dont get the OP's question. Laptops and airports go hand in hand.

There is a lot of unfounded paranoia around about cusotms people actively seeking out people with laptops.

They may have been cracking down, but it's on the likes of Christmas shoppers who head over at Thanksgiving and come back with 10 suitcases.

I have nerver heard of Customs stopping someone with a laptop, especially at Dublin Airport.

how could they even prove that you didnt have it with you going or that you actually bought it over there. Just dont leave it in the box with a date of purchase/receipt hanging off it.

i have seen customs official fast asleep in dublin airport. i doubt if they have alot of interest in people who dont declare goods......

what ever you do dont try bring home the box and def buy a laptop bag to put it all in. Dont keep the recipt anywhere obvious.
