It's a martial dance from brazil.

Developed by the african slaves so they could train in combat without the masters knowing. They use handstands, flips and cartwheels (did you ever play Tekken 3? there's a guy on that does it!)

But this link should have movies for you to see?

Might buy Tekken 3 some day so.

Anyway, back on topic, before the mods have my ass.

Capeoria seems to be kinda mad. They look like monkeys dancing around with their arses on fire. No disrespect, just my interpretation.

It's actually something I'd like to try. Methinks this summer I try some of the MA stuff I've been putting off for the sake of concentrating on TKD...

I've done a couple of classes, and some of my friends train regularly, and it seems to be great for balance and agility, not sure of its practical application on its own, but there are defiantely aspects that could be used and incorperated (Sak's cartwheel guardpass, anyone ;) )

I trained with Oficiana de Capoeira In Dublin under professor Samso and Graduato Primo for 2 years and solo for a year before transferring to breakdancing, as both deciplines share alot of the same moves/philosophies (music+dance+gymnastics).
Id highly recommend it if u want to get good core strenght or wana learn to ping a few flashy moves like Arials/macacos(Valdez), butterfly kicks/twists etc. Oficiana have a web site thats along the lines of Odecapoeira.ie. They train in the Byrne hall on Synge st (behind Camden st in town) and on Thomas st in a hall in the Thomas St car Park, almost every night. Theres also a new crowd that teach in the Carmalite centre on upper Georges st (near the YMCA). I dunno what times they teach though.

    Hope this helps

    Peace
