You will find loads if you just search on the net.
I am going in 3 weeks and staying in a place called Hotel virgina. Meant to be nice, it is right beside main train station and it was €100 a night when I booked it.

    that is cheap for Rome!

When are you going? I can let you know what it was like when I come back

Have a look at tripadvisor.com. Found a nice hotel there called the Colonna Palace, loads of good reviews. Close to Trevi, Spanish steps,Pantheon,Vatican,Colosseum.
Train station is a good bit away from all of the above and the area isn't as safe.

Try the Columbus Hotel, on Via della Conciliazione.

Rooms are average, but the hotel reeks of 14th Century Palace, frescoed ceilings in the breakfast hall - though go out to the terrace if the weather is good. Great location, 5 mins Vatican, in fact if you've a room on the stree, you can see it and Castle Angelo from your window.

Stayed in the Virginia two years ago. It's certainly not the Ritz but is great for the price. It's actually about 5 mins walk NW of the station, in a nice enough area. Recommended!
