Problem with connecting to eircom hotspot

I'm running into problems, while trying to connect to one of the free eircom hotspots and thought, that one of you could help me.

I can detect the wifi signal and it seems that my laptop gets connect ok (I get an IP address asigned).
However when I try to access a webpage, I get the error message 'xxx can not be found.'. If I try the IP address of the webpage directly, the connection times out. The same happens, when I try to ping the webpage.

Does anyone has an idea, what I'm doing wrong?

Can you or have you connected your laptop to any other wifi signals.... is the problem only with the eircom hopspot..?

Have you tried different browsers, I find that sometimes 'IE' doesn't see your connection or looks to your dial-up connection first..!

I don't know of any other free hotspots, where I could try it, but I will try another eircom hotspot this weekend.

I'm already using firefox, but I will try IE and see if I get any other results.

    Thanks

Before we get complicated, did you try the obvious - > Configure your firewall if you have one or even turn it off

    Thanks
    Some listings I found:
    http://www.lookintoireland.com/wifi.htm
    http://mmm.eircom.ie/press/PressRelease_Target.asp?id=393&y=2005
    http://www.broadbandforjoe.com/hotloc.html

There is a full listing on the Eircom site..... although I found them before I couldn't locate them tonight.....!
