    Hey,

I'm in the market for a barebones PC. Can anyone reccomend one and where to get it. I'd like to get a good bit of storage into it (2 Hard drives perhaps) Does this mean I cannot stick in a graphics card?

I'm looking for a compact system (Shuttle size). The cheaper the better :) Don't need anything too future proof. Will be sticking a gig o ram into it as well.

    I have one. The shuttle SB83G5. Build quality is excellent, and the power supply is solid. I was running a 3GHZ P4, 1Gig PC3200 XMS, 2 x 120GBs in RAID 0, 16x DVDRW and a X800XT.

The SB83G5 is one of the newer ones, bassed on the 915 chipset S775 PCI-X. It has integrated graphics too though. So no need to splash out on a graphics card right away.

    Looks cool aswel.

Re ur question about hard drives...you'll fit 2 in, a graphics card and a PCI card (typically a tv tuner or something similar...).

I got mine from overclock, service was fine.

I'm selling mine if your interested.

I also had an abit digidice. Not really on the same level as the shuttle but still a decent piece of kit.

prob be better off going for the shuttles with the new p type chassis.

Either the SN25P (amd socket 939 nforce 4 chipset)

    or

    XPC SB81P (Intel 915G + ICH6R) / XPC SB95PV2(Intel 925XE + ICH6R)

P type chassis has a 350 watt psu vs 240 watt for the older chassis and will also take a dual slot gfx card.(If you fit a dual slot gfx card you cannot use the other pci express slot)

They are also slightly taller than the older chassis and will take 3 hard drives comfortably according to some reviews i have seen.

The p type chassis are the most expensive of the shuttle line however...

Shuttle boxes don't come cheap but you get what you pay for.

All of the above can be found in the bare bones section of overclockers.co.uk

If you want something a bit more future proof but nearly the same size i would reccomend the Antec Aria case. It comes with a 300W PSU, takes micro ATX mainboards which gives you more expansion. Take a look here .
The beauty of this case is it's potential for future upgrading. Add the Abit IG-80 915G "PCI-Express" (Socket 775) Dual DDR400 Motherboard to it and you've got the equivalent (or a lot better IMO) of what you'd get out of the box with a shuttle and for a lot cheaper too!!

    Overclockers sell 'em here
