6600Gt in my view. Dont ask why be here all day, just take it that the 9800pro is a sterling card but its getting dated the 6600gt shades it in my view purely caus its next gen.

6600gt beats the pro hands down. Check out pcformats website, they did a huge benchmark test last month. U can see the difference between the two there..

If price isn't an issue then obviously the 6600GT is a little bit faster. Though it depends what game you are running. 2nd hand the 9800pro can be a better deal if you can get it cheap enough.

so let me get this straight; the geforce 6600 is cheaper and better than the radeon 9800 pro?

p.s. unklerosco, do you have a link for the pcformat benchmark tests? i had a good look but couldnt find anything.

I'll check the mag, it has a link in it... Its the 6600gt we're talking about, its faster than the std 6600... They're priced around €200, some higher some lower.

errrr is it just me or am i missing something here?

first off, it is a 6600 (NON GT) he is comparing to a 9800 Pro???

I stress NON GT??????? So in reality a 9800 Pro would be better? Hence the price difference too??

maybe i completely wrong...but maybe im right! :D

    Dirty Harry's right. 9800 pro > 6600, but 6600GT > 9800 pro.

Have to say, I assumed it was 6600GT at first too. I'm sure the poll voters did also.

The 9800 beats the 6600(Non GT) as you linked to so why not get this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=307919&cks=PRL it is a 6600GT for 179 euro just under your 180 limit. It will be better than the 9800 or the 6600

thanks lads, i was just about to point out (after doing a bit of research) that it wasn't a gt card; rather, it's a bog standard 6600.

    :::::edit::::

thanks BabyEater, that looks like a winner (advice still appreciated though), plus it come with a free keychain - WOOOOOOOOH!

1000 apologies i presumed it was a 6600GT as well. The 6600 non Gt....sorry the what?

Try a 6800LE if you could scrape more cash together and OC it as i hear it goes near to a 6800gt http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=303912&cks=SER

no problems, its just good to get some feed back - even if i's wrong ;) lol

I'd be lying if I said that that card does look better - I'm only semi-literate with computers I'm afraid, but I'll take your word on it. Unless I really come into some serious cash, it looks like i'm going with the 6600gt. And at that I'm stretching things. Hummmm, maybe I should play the lotto this weekend!

Anyway, thanks for all your help everyone!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

If money is a real big issue, buy a second hand 9800pro. I got one here a while back for €100
