One copy of Win XP for 2 PC's?

Can I install and use my Win XP cd on two pc's? Im getting a new system soon and I would like to have Windows on the old system, but dont want to have to fork out for another copy.

if you want xp on two machines at the same time then no you'll need 2 copies of xp, one for each pc.

if you have a retail boxed copy of xp you can transfer it over to the new system.
if you have a OEM copy of then it's tied to the system that it was pre-installed/installed on first.

Will I have to un-install it from my present system before putting it on the new one?

Im building the new system, and want to still use my current PC until I get it up and running.

Will the one copy physically not work on two systems, or is it that its just illegal to do so?

It'd work on the second machine, it'd just be illegal. And we don't condone illegal activities here! Buy a second copy or install linux.
