Folks have been out of the gaming arena for a long time, but have just built myself a pretty good little system, and was looking about getting a couple of good adventure/role playing games, something fun along the lines of the old monkey island puzzle solving games... They were a lot of fun and the puzzles were enjoyable.. I'm probably in the wrong section of gaming but maybe you guys might be able to help. I have searched the Web but can't really see anything that strikes me.. Lucas Arts don't seem to have too much to offer at the mo..

Any suggestions would be welcome.. :D

indiana jones and the fate of atlantis is brilliant. Like monkey island, a bit older. You can pick up a copy on ebay pretty cheap, make sure its the talky version, that way you get voices. If you're using XP, you'll need the ScummVM to hear sound in it.

the most recent traditional adventure game (ie point and click) was Syberia

I'd recommend trying to find the Longest Journey by funcom. The sequel should be out sometime this year.

For older games, either go to Home of the Underdogs or Abandonia. I'd recommend the Worlds of Ultima: Martian Dreams.

    If specifically adventure games: http://www.adventuregamers.com/

In general, I'd say this question should be asked in the main gaming forum as a lot more people would be able to give you their recommendations.

    Check out some abandonware sites.
    www.the-underdogs.org
    www.abandonia.com

google for others, they have loads of old-skool point and click adventures.

Keep an eye out for Day Of The Tentacle.....it'll be right up your street.
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis as already suggested. ;)

Giuseppe I too cut my teeth on point and click adventures: Sam'nMax, SimonSorcerer, Indiana Jones etc but in my opinion gaming has moved on. Once you have got used to the freedom of exploring 3-Dimensional worlds its very hard to go back to point and click. If you have a fairly up to date computer I suggest checking out a more modern Role Playing Game for a more immersive experience (e.g. Morrowind, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic or even Deus Ex).

Baldur's Gate series either? Some great storylines, even if it might be a bit too RPG.

would also recommend Neverwinter nights, as it is a bit older now and will run with fairly low specs.

Day of the Tentacle (very good), Sam and Max, Grim Fandango (love it) and the Discworld games (1st one is the best in my opinion) are all point and click like the monkey island games.

Oh as well, the broken sword series except unlike Monkey Island you can die.
Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle would be the ones I'd most highly recommend.
