Anyone out there getting a belly like mine and need to get some exercise?

Bought table tennis table, had great plans of an hours exercise every day against the wife, but then she went and got pregnant, all my efforts up in the air! (well, not all my efforts!)

I never have had any lessons so am not a "serious" opponent for any one. I am not TOO bad though, so if you know of any clubs in the south east or are within reach of Gorey and want to ping-pong please reply.

    Hi Mark,

I have trawled through the net and any local clubs are catering only for schoolkids, and I don't want to be playing against 13 year olds!

The nearest "real" club seems to be in Bray!

Apparently there was a very active club here until two years ago when people just drifted away and the whole thing collpased. The local community centre has four or five tables, but no-one using them!

Let me know if you find any other players/clubs in the south east.

    Hi Amz,

You are right, there WAS a club in Ferns!

I live there and that is the one I mentioned that has closed up, I just got here too late!

Ah ok, I just wondered if it was still there because my mum played with them as a kid.

Would you consider trying to revive it?

I'm sure there'd be an interest, there always was in Ferns from what I remember.

During the summer would be a good itme as so many people off school, college etc. will be looking for something to do and people not into GAA will be looking for something to play during the GAA season.

    Just an idea ...

    Hi Niloc,

Apologies for slow reply. I paid approx €425 for a full size outdoor Stiga incl delivery, net and cover.

    Hi Amz,

As much as I would like to revive it I spend quite a bit of time out of the country as my business is in Overseas properties so it would be impossible to try and keep tabs on anything that may or may not be going on.

I want some exercise and enjoyment out of it, not headaches!

I have heard that a lot of clubs close during the summer as they tend to be connected with schools and so when kiddies are on holidays it all shuts down.

    Thanks anyway!

I LOVE table tennis. I read in a newspaper recently that it's becoming the in sport for the moneyed folk, even to the extent that loads of the big London clubs (social, not night) have been buying tables for their members. Some of the pop stars apparently also have their own leagues and play to relax before concerts. Who knew? I'm gonna have to get myself a table.

I'd be interested in joining any clubs that might be in the vicinity of University of Limerick, just on the off chance that anyone might be reading who knows of one. I found a website once, but never received word back after I left a message. If I had the time I'd set one up, but I'm really up to my eyes with work. Great exercise though and I have such a big belly it could really do with this.
