    A mate of mine is getting SKY+ - he's thinking of getting to 160 Gb version. How much will it cost? I'm trying to persuade him to get the standard one and upgrade it.

    I think it's along the lines of €399 - not too sure though. I'll dig my sky magazine out of the bin, and then unwrap it tomorrow and confirm :p

    Cheaper to mod the box yourself and install a 160 GB disk yourself.

    YIKES!!! :eek::eek::eek:

    I'm surprised they're signing people up to it, with those prices! And considering the amount of faults it is supposed to have.

    And from all the pictures I've seen of it, it looks ugly. I quite like the standard Sky+ box, but the 160 looks bad.

    You can ring them up and tell them not to send it anymore if you don't want it.

    I may consider Sky Plus but it is actually Sky who are the stumbling block for me! I'm a Sky subscriber since 1996, analogue then onto Digital in 2000. I have a PACE box which has been repaired once but is still working perfectly but next time it goes belly up I want to get SKy plus. I have never had a phone line connected to my box but they have said to get Sky Plus I must have one for at least twelve months. I'll ditch Sky rather than do this. Is there any escape clause? :mad:

    Buy the SKY+ box privately for €299 from a independant retailer. No phone line required.

    Why? I don't understand why people have such strong objection to having the box plugged into the phone line, mine is and its not a problem as far as I can see. Am I missing something here?

    You dont need the phoneline connected for sky+.. apparently you need it for the mutli-room but not for just sky+!!
