From Linux to NTFS

    Hi,
I have an external Hard drive, I gave it to a friend as he needed to back his system up. Before I gave it to him, it was NTFS and now it is LINUX and it has his files on it. I want to Format it and make it NTFS so it can be recognised in MY COMPUTER and used properly on windows.

I know there is partition magic but I really don't want to pay for something I'm only going to use for this task. I don't want to partition it, just format it and make it NTFS.

I tried a Maxtor programme but that requires a floppy drive and I don't have one on my laptop.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Control Panel --> Admin tools --> Computer Management --> Disk Management and just format the partition, there's no need for anything special or separate software.

SystemRescueCD has a free partition magic clone on it, but as Spear said, windows can handle simple formatting.
