Even if it was 95% off, IT'S STILL A ROVER!

You gotta love Ireland. Rover are dead. There are no warrenties with their cars anymore and yet the main dealers here maintain the same prices while their UK cunterparts are selling em like christmas trees on the 26th December.

    I love badge junkies ;)

For every one of them there's one less person who'll buy under appreciated cars like the Octavia and 75(a fantastic car) and hence keep the price down.

Thanks badge junkies keep up the good work! :D

The 75 is meant to be a great car alright, but you'd want to have a stockpile of parts and be a talented mechanic yourself to buy one of these cookies now.

well parts are fully available apparantly as Xpart a division of caterpillar own the rights to distribute parts. the chinese company also owns the right to manufacture the 75 as they bought the designs from rover before christmas so expect no end to the parts supply for many many years.

as far as warranties go, under the sale of goods and supply of services act ur warranty is with the dealer not the manufacturer. people buy used cars every day without any warranty and many cars are being driven outside of warranty.

i dont think many badge junkies realise how much car is available for 22 grand, full digital climate control, lovely interior , classy exterior, corolla money for a lexus type of car.

    75's are good cars ;)

Just dont get the bottom spec engine - no acceleration.
We have the V6 and the mpg is a bit crap, so go for the 1.8T

LOL, just give it a bit of time. Within a month or two I'd expect you'd be able to pick up a brand new 75 sans warrantee for about half the Irish list price

Get the warrantee from a third party and you'll be laughing

I am thinking of buying a rover 400, 414 , a 1997,1998 over next 2 months. Anyone have them? think they a good car. They are really cheap. As well if anyone knows anyone selling one, tell me. I'm finding it difficult enough to find one.

    Cheers,

Any Irish dealers doing deals on the 75 yet?

Also anyone know of a website which might have the full spec? Rover's site is of course gone. :(

In my experience buying a rover without waranty is madness. They are piles of the highest order.
I'm associated in a way with the car industry, a few years ago the dealers got a memo from from our distributors up in dublin, who take up waranty on all used cars sold by the dealers. (BTW a new car waranty is a contract with the maker, well outside and above the statutory requirements protected by the sale of goods and supply of services act, so if your plan is to come back to the dealer when it all goes tits up, think again :p)
Anywho, it stated that they would no longer take up any new waranties on , you guessed it- Rovers of any make shape or description older than 18 months.
They did not however have any worries about taking up the burden of waranties on Fiats, Daewoos, Kias, Hyundais, San Yongs, Aston Martins, Lambos, Ferarri's, Lotus's, Jags etc And christ knows they are hardly the best built cars in the world either
A person formally involved with rover admitted that he was reluctant to sell to people who would be doing much more that 5000k a year because of the grief involved.
That said, Dont put too much weight to what I'm saying, what- with the ammount of tripe that passes for fact on these forums, you'd be mad!
