What do you all think of the Lips? I got really into them after I heard The Soft Bulletin and ended up getting everything by them (Zaireeka included, even though I still haven't been able to set up the 4 stereos to listen to it...). I've also seen them put on two really great shows, one at Bonnaroo 2 years ago when they covered some Pink Floyd stuff off of DSOTM, and then with Wilco at New Years (and that was AWESOME!).

Anyway, they just put out a new compilation that has a really eclectic mix of stuff on it. It's called "Late Night Tales"and it's got their cover of Seven Nation Army on it, along with tracks recorded by Bjork, Radiohead, Nick Drake, Miles Davis, the Psychadelic Furs and lots of others. Have any of you checked this out? I really dig it.

Cant say I'm the biggest fan of this album..but it is growing on me a lil bit at a time...not bad if u just need to veg...but it wouldnt be my first choice. It's like those "trip" albums that came out a while back-death in vegas and snowpatrol did one each (ie same thing as flaming lips, not there music, but a compilation of stuff that they'd "listen to" or some jazz like that), and one or two others-some where good (death in vegas), some were ****e...some bands are better off doing their own thing :)

However I remember hearing Zaireeka at a friend's house before-it is well worth getting the stereos..its really weird, but really cool at the same time-good ol preteniousness, where'd we be without it...good good.. :D

I don't know if I could be bothered buying a cd of music I for the most part already had, €20 is a bit steep for their cover of Seven Nation Army.

Alana is right though, the 4cd Zarieeka experience is excellent. We did it in college a couple of months ago and I plan to do it again very soon. Such a lovely album. I keep meaning to try two at a time in various combinations. And three at a time too.

Theyre alright..a bit overrated IMO. Had a couple of albums by them yonks ago, transmissions.. and 1 other one i forget, but tbh i found both of em pretty unremarkable. Not bad just..not great either.
