Anti Theft, Door Opener FOBs, Fun stuff

I was reading an item recently (unfortunately cannot relocate the link), whereby some students with a PC and transmitter managed to crack the latest FOB/Antitheft encryption code in a few hours.
A patient thief could claim a BMW a day with such a system.

Other item, based on "old wives tales", If the FOB does not activate alarm/open the doors when the distance between you and the vehicle is large, aim it into or at the top of your mouth and presto, it works at the increased distance.
    Try it sometime.

    It's Friday, fun time.

Several inventions perform the same basic task,
One form has no moving parts, another form one moving part, another maybe 50± a few, another thousands, another gets destroyed in the process and yet another none again.

    What are we talking about?.

Remote start alarms are the best when comes to operating range. They rule

I think Jeremy Clarkson did a thing on this, and there was some merc that had automatic unlocking when it detected the fob in your pocket. He got very annoyed because whever he walked near the car, it would automatically
unlock - quite a pain in the arse if you are just walking past the car, as opposed to walking to the car. Whenever he wanted to see if the car actually had locked itself or not, it would detect the fob in his pocket and unlock again.

That seems pointless. Really, how hard can it be to remove the fob from your pocket! Whatever next?!

So how much contamination did you introduce to the system with this little side job?. Usually enough to get you fired.

As for the MB fob, sounds like something that should be USER programmable, same as any cheap Alarm system.

Aha, well seeing as his options under normal circumstances would be to give the fob to a randomer, and ask them to "stay over there" or to walk away, carefully put the fob on the ground, wall, etc and return to the car...... woud you do that with your 100k plus merc? You would on your hole. Especially if you were that ejit, god knows how many people would want to lift his car out of spite,
