NTFSdos on the www.sysinternal.com can read (and write if you buy the full version) to NTFS from DOS. But dos doesn't create or use or read NTFS otherwise.

fdisk will allow you to DELETE an NTFS partition (or "non-dos") and then you could create a normal dos partiton, reboot and then fromat that partiton

    fdisk /status
    will list your current partitions

It's okay...I got it sorted....Basically I had one hard drive partitioned like so.
I had a c: drive(NTFS) as a Primary DOS Partition with Windows installed on it.....then I had the rest of the drive as an extended DOS partition with 2 logical drives on this.
I had images stored on the logical drives and wanted to roll back windows on the Primary DOS partition using an image from one of the logical drives. But when I went to format the C: drive in DOS, it didn't recognise that it even existed and would only list the floppy drive, ram drive and the 2 logical drives(these were FAT32)....
Just thrashed the whole machine & back in business now but thanks anyway guys
