Online poker is rigged and so I would like to sponsor ( but not play in ) the BSOP 2005.

I didn't play in the BSOP last year but would like to do so this year.
I would like to make a couple of suggestions for slight modifications to the format. Last year as it progressed and people had less points they stopped attending as they had less chance of making the final. I think people should pay the share of each month that goes to the prize fund for the final up front, (ie. 8 months * €10 = €80). This will ensure a full prize fund for the final table and people willprobably still attend the later months as anything they pay in on the night will still be in the prizepool for that night. Also if we are having an STT for the final tables last place, itshould only go ahead if there are a minimum amount of players. Dev got a seat last year, but the stt only added €100(I think) to the prizefund, there was no real added value to the other people who had made the final table in this.

These are just suggestions, Iwill play one way or the other.

I would also like to add some suggestions

    1. I agree with Waylanders suggestion pay up front 80-100 whatever for the grand final, and then pay for the monthly games at the time, it's hardly going to break the bank anyway.

    2. The more points you have the more chips you should get in the final. Maybe a bonus 100-200 chips for every first place finish you have from the monthly heats. This way even if someone is miles ahead there is a reason for them to play in every monthly heat.

    3. Musician is rigged, he completely destroyed me in the final last year with his dodgy dealing, he shouldn't be allowed deal the final :D

what do you think about the monthly heats being individual games too?

example: we that we pay ~€40 each per month, €25 trickles down to monthly/grand final like last year and the rest is a prize on the night, like a STT. i think it would give every game a cash incentive, increase the turnout, and avoid people winning heats and coming 4th in finals (getting through ~36 people) and getting nothing...

i agree we need some system where people have to turn up or pay the month anyway......not sure how we can faily enforce this.

should we do home games or the fitz?

    Boards Series if Poker

Played over eight months. Each months there are 3 heats, with the final 3 from each heat going to a monthly final. Anyone who makes the final each month scores points depending on how they do when they get there. The 9 players with the most points after eight months play a grand final. Davey Devil is the reigning champion. You pay €25 each month, of which €10 goes to the grand final and €15 goes to the monthly final.

I think that the individual heats each month should definitely be kept out of the casinos and in people's homes, for "home-games", as it were. What I enjoyed most about the BSOP last year was the random banter and booze, and being able to light up a cigarette while waiting for Henbane to call off all his chips with two pair against Adam's quads.

Probably interested in getting involved again.

    Suggestion tho'
Why not make the individual rounds more 'stand alone' with a smaller rake goin to the final. (+there would be the ongoing usual points system)
Reason is, that u should get great turnout for the first few months but as the better players build a points lead less and less ppl turn up of the last few months (like last year). I think (as Poker players do) ppl look at the prize pool first, then the points table and then their chances of making the final and then decide wheter they go or not.

So with a bigger % of the prize pool on the night we would get a better month turnout?
Also will we see Suited Aces monthly games again?

It was suggested last year that it might be easier to organise one weekend per month as "BSOP Weekend" where all heats would be played in the fitz on either the saturday or the sunday.
This would be to stop the problem of people not being able to make certain days (weekend 1, 2, 3, etc), and everything getting very messy with heat swop and so on.

This would also free up other weekends for non-BSOP cash games, which were lacking last year.

I agree with La Fortezza. Also might be an idea about having some online heats too for those outside the pale or the country. I'll have a think about that and also talk to Hyz and Shortstack who've put a lot of time and effort into this area.

    DeV.
