Late starts - RTE programming

    Folks,

surely a first last night - before 'The West Wing' the continuity announcer actually said something like ".....and five minutes later than scheduled in the RTE Guide, here's 'The West Wing'...". Is there a change in policy?

It wasn't an apology, but at least an acknowledgment that they're late. I tape all the West Wing episodes on Sky+ and I manually change the minutes to add to end of the recordings to 10 minutes every Thursday night.

I assume it's the live programming that gives RTE the problems - the News, the Angelus, the smiley weather. You'd think they'd get it right sooner or later - the best example is Monday nights - watch the start times of Joey & Scrubs on RTE2 or TSFKAN2 (The Station Formerly Known As Network 2). They could be 10 minutes late...

    End of rant

    10mins?

I set my video to tape a prog on Net2 last Sunday night and gave an extra 30mins each way to the advertised recording time just to make sure that I didn't any of either the start or end.

Net result? Not 1 single minute of my programme was present in the recording so the prog was either an hour off the advertised time or it hadn't even been shown at all! Their scheduling is a joke that seems to be more a 'suggestion' than anything you should actually depend on.

all well and good with the announcements

still useless for people who have VCR's, PVR's and so on set to record stuff

i used to think ITV was bad but RTÉ take the piss

RTE2 or TSFKAN2 (The Station Formerly Known As Network 2).

More like TSFKAN2PRTE2 (The Station Formerly Known As Network 2 Previously RTE2)
