There's a scientific explanation for virtually everything relating to human activity, including basic emotions, their causes, the physical effects they have etc. etc.

So is love unique, is it an emotion brought by chemical reations within the body/brain, or is it a state of mind that really can't be explained?

Love, what is it to you? 11 votes

are you talking love or attraction? because i can see attraction being chemical , but actual love is a combination of attraction, familiarity and trust, therefore more a state of mind... or not :D

I'm talking love. Attraction is easy, you look at someone an think jesus, i'd lob it into her!
But when your with someone you love you dont think these thoughts, or you do, but not in the same way, you go around wanting to "make love" to them instead, and you attach happiness to it in your mind, where as sleeping with someone as a one night stand or something is just gettin your rocks off, you dont wake up the next morning and smile, you wake up the next morning and run! :D

Yeah, it can be mate, but I think that we also exist apart from the chemical reactions and confines of our 1.4kg of grey matter, and that things happen for a reason. Could be wishful thinking, but hey, you gotta believe in something. :D

It's both. That doesn't make it any less of an experience. As chemical reactions go, you could do a lot worse.
