No better or worse than the most agencies IMO. I rate them all pretty badly though ;)

    IMHO CPL are sh1te.

I applied for three jobs through them, they rang to talk to me about them and told me that they would send out the specs and never did after I rang them back numerous times. I found them a bit rude and not really bothered. Had a few friends that had similar experiences.

Then last week - 7 months later they start sending me job specs. Decided to go through recruitireland / driect replies and ditch the recruiment agencies which had a 95% better response.

I've been with them for 18mths and they just about SCRAPE a FAIR rating.
They were excellent at the beginning when I was looking for a job though.

If you are looking at a contract position there are always two contracts.
One contract is between client and agency. Seperate contract between you and agency but usually mentions the client as where you will be working.

You should ask Annie spacedog :D

    CPL are Alright.
I have a mixed view, so far i haven't been mispaid or paid late however i have had meetings with one of their HR reps and did not like it.
That being said, her replacement is fantastic.
I'd look at it this way, if your looking for work then you could do worse.

Dunno if this is typical of most agencies but anyway - CPL arranged an interview for me around 12 months ago. I didn't get the job. They told me they would keep me in mind when any other suitable vacancies arose.

I haven't heard from them since!

CPL are a waste of space. Dont waste your time with them.

They are imho a waste of space. They contacted me a while ago because I had been dealing with them when I last moved 2 years ago. Went in to meet them and they were killed trying to get me to join Dell eventhou I told them that was a move backwards for me and I didn't want it. Since then around 4 months ago I have had 2 different reps (I am assuming there is a high turnover of staff in there) ringing me about great opportunities they had in Dell for me

What about Multiflex? They any good?

I was speaking to them recently about a position in HP. I didn't find them very interested, very standoffish and not very good at returning calls

    CPL = CRAP

I told them what salary I was looking for and they continually contacted me offering jobs that were completely the wrong salary. 50% short of my current salary...

i have had several dealing with them, and i thought they were alright.
    when compared to other agencies.

but like any agency, and like any sales people, once you are off their radar, they have no interest, because the sales circle is quite a short one. and to be honest, being in sales, i completely understand that.

what i dont like, is the fact that they will try and press you into positions that you dont want.

but, the higher the level of position you are going for, the better the customer service. i as asked about 5 years ago if i wanted to be an engineer working on SMT machines in HP when they opened up their Ink facility in wherever it is. this was about 4 years after i had stopped using them in NEC.
i think that dragging a CV out of the cupboard that is 5 years old is a real sign of desperation!

CPL are a pretty good agency, imo. I got no jobs out of them, but they did get me 8 interviews (only found out from a guy at [Something] Logic that my answers to his questions were "disturbing"; I say this is why I didn't get any jobs). Aside from that, they would give me infomation about the company that I was getting interviewed for.
Compared to one or two others, who gave me little or no help, I'd say CPL are the best I've come across.

    =-=

As for CPL owning your ass, alot of companies are doing this. Just as Stelfox owns your ass whilst you work at Eircom, CPL owns your ass at companies such as HP.

The funny thing is, BoI outsources its tech support to HP, who in turn out sources its personal from CPL. Everyone outsources to someone else, it seems.

LOL, "disturbing" ??? WTF did you say to him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 322 ✭✭Kobie

I'd have to tick the 'Sh!ite' box for CPL.

They actually got me fired from my job! I only heard afterwards that they'd gotten into an argument with the employer - nothing at all to do with me. The employer said 'Right, get all of your people out of here'. Of course CPL didn't tell me this - they just said that the employer just didn't have any more work for me. My manager couldn't apologise enough & was even asking if I'd consider going permanent behind CPL's back.

    Arsewipes one and all.

    I think maybe;
Him; If they insult you, what do you do?
Me; Ignore them, as they're insulting the comapny, not me.
Him; And how did you cope in ***, when they insulted you?
Me; I switched it on mute, and laughed.

The thing is, thats what I did. It worked for me, and for anyone I worked with.

Some day, I may write back, and demand, under some infomation act, that I should see which ones he found disturbing...biggrin.gif

Recruitment agencies are dirt. The way they treat people is shocking. I have absolutely no time for recruitment people. One of my mates does this for a living and I have told him what I think of it all. He just laughed, which was very fitting.

make sure you keep your a copy of your timesheet after you fax it in to cpl, the staff are professional but under resoursed

CPL almost cost me a job a really wanted, they started to negotiate for a much higher salary than I was willing to accept, never told me I'd even been offered the job. First I knew about it was when the Director of the company called me and asked why I was being so hard nosed on the negotiations. Ended up by-passing CPL, and got a salary that I wanted.

    I agree. Absolute sh!t!

I went for an internal job in CPL as a web programmer.
They got me to do an analysis of their website and say what I'd change. After spending 3 hours doing this I emailled it off and never heard back. I rang the next day and all and the guy said he got it and would be in touch.

These people seem to be absolute parasites!

    AVOID!

Yep! I agree, I applied for a load of jobs for them and they either wouldn't respond or tell me I was inexperienced, real wa*nkers, if ye ask me!

    recruitment agencies are leeches, parasites
(this is a valid use of those words, check the dictionary)

they get a you a job, great, but then you should be done with them, but no they take a slice of you action
