Recommend software

I have a couple AVI files that I'd like to transfer to DVD. What I'd like to do is to create a fairly basic DVD. I just need to create a menu that will allow me to select the appropriate file and play it.

So I'd need something that will allow me to sequence AVI files, create a menu, convert the AVI files to DVD format and burn the whole lot (this last part is optional, as long as the software creates files suitable for Nero burning)

I know there's an assload of software out there that will do this, but I could with some recommendations from people who've used it.

DIKO will do most of this - including burning with DVD Decrypter. It doesn't do menus though.

You could use WinAvi to convert them to MPEG and the use roxio or Nero to author a basic dvd.

Try Windows Movie maker - it's free from the Microsoft site. It certainly isn't the most feature laden piece of software, but it will do most of what you require.

You will have to export the file as an uncompressed .avi, IIRC, then import it into the likes of Nero for burning.
