there's the usual web browsing and office work.. but apart from these normal everyday tasks, what do you love most about your mac? that perhaps wouldn't be so convenient on a windows based pc?

most things for me get done on the Mac: office work, accounting (thank you GNUCash!) web browsing etc. Its my productivity machine if you like.

The rock-solidness of OS-X is a major plus, so far the only software to crash my macs has been written by MS!

I like the design, the battery life, the high-res widescreen and the fact that i dont have to install 5 or 6 programs to protect me against spyware\malware & viruses. I like the way that it makes unix-type structures a little easier to understand. I have learned a lot about OSX from Linux and vice-versa.

I actually like the fact that it is a bit more of a "closed" hardware, as I am much less likely to prick about with it, which is why I run the business side from the mac. Like most of boardsies I haven't had a side on my PC case in 6 years!

The PC's are mostly used for work with clients, virus scans, data recovery etc etc, as games machines and on ther VERY rare occasion that my macs arent able to do a particular task.

Basically it is more dependable, it just frickin works! and makes me a happier person when it does.

Hopefully linux will get to this level on PC's for me.

Using a Tibook as my home machine, have had it for the last 2.5 years and its been faultless. I use it for surfing, photo storage and editing (hooking up a Canon S50 and 20D, use Canon Imagebrowser for cataloguing and PS-CS for editing), music storage (sync iTunes with a Rio Cali and a 30gb iPod photo) and working on my personal site with Dreamweaver MX. Also use Office from time to time for arb docs and spreadsheets. Don't really do any gaming on it but I do have a copy of The Sims on it somewhere.

I think I'll be using this machine for at least another 2-3 years, it handles my needs perfectly. Just need a nice display and a proper keyboard to use with it.

my ibook runs sometimes as a webserver, and always as an ssh server... i only use os x and linux at home and its handy to have something with apache built in, porting mysql was easy enough with fink. Although i'd love to be able run KDE 3.4 on my mac. Maybe someday when yellow dog has airport extreme support.
One thing i love about my mac is its ability to backup to an external firewire drive and then boot from it. Haven't had a crash yet but if i lost everything i wouldn't be very happy!
If you feel like jumping into the deep end try using gnu darwin on x86, i'm a system administrator, and look after linux every day, and darwin was just a little wacky...
