ThunderBird help please

    Having difficulty with thunderbird at the moment. I currently have 2 email accounts set up in TB, 1 for college etc and 1 for mailing my friends/spam/jokes etc.

    I have no problem downloading mail from either of them but for some reason when I download from 1 account I can only read messages sent to that account and if there are no new messages on the other account I cant switch accounts.

    I looked in TB faq and knowledge base, also tried google but found nothing.

    It's probably something simple that I'm just overlooking but really head-wrecking and any help would be appreciated
