What are you charging?

This is to any IT Consultants/Techies/Support Moonlighters/Whatever you call yourself.
What do you charge for your services?
An example I can give is fixing a PC that needs a rebuild (os reinstall, etc...).
I charge €250 for this. This includes the initial callout, backup, software reinstallation, files and settings restored/ updated os and preventative software installed (i.e. a firewall, spyware guard, etc...).
I've had a family member call a guy in the area that does this sort of thing. She called under the pretence of needing a pc rebuild.
He says he'll do it for €80-100.
I'm a bit dubious about this guy's abilities, but he seems to be doing quite well out of it, although I reckon it's just a part-time/evening thing.
So what do you think? Am I over-charging? What are you charging?

    €250
dont expect any repeat customers if you're asking for that ammount.

€100ish seems to be the norm

    Fair enough.
How long does it take to rebuild an average pc?
And do you think you're getting paid well for your time if you're only charging €100?

Depends on the severity of the problem. If it's going to take time to back everything up, then I'd ask them to drop the machine over and I'd sort it out. If they've a bit of cop-on and have backed stuff up onto a seperate partition etc. and it's just a sit-down and shuffle CDs job then about 50-60 for the first hour and 40 for every hour after that.
I also expect tea and decent biccies (not plain digestives) while I work.
The machine will run as best as I can make it afterwards.

I charge €30/hr for everything and anything. Flat rate for building pc's.

    "I charge €250 for this"

How on earth did you find people stupid enough to pay that. I'll settle for a simple postcode :)

Is anyone here doing this as a fulltime business?
I don't just mean pc rebuilds, but all support to home users and small businesses.

€250? And I thought PC World were a ripoff :)

I reckon a per hour charge for anything like this and obviously if you have to supply any hardware/software a charge for this plus 15% for profit.

I would love to start up my own PC support business but am wary of whether or not the demand is out there. So many people have friends or family they can call on if they have a problem with their PC so are reluctant to shell out for that type of service. Way too many wouldbe PC Technicians out there :( T'would be great if PC maintenance was like plumbing. We PC Tech heads would make a bloody fortune :)
