teletext via NTL digital ?

Sorry if this has been asked before but why don't NTL digital carry teletext transmissions ? sky did.

What platform are you using? MMDS? Cable? and which town?

I can see teletext on all the main terrestrial channels on NTL Digital cable in Dublin...

It does, however only on RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, TV3, TG4, BBC One, BBC Two, UTV & Channel 4 IIRC.

I'm on NTL cable in Dublin, I only get teletext via the analogue service not when watching the digital service. ????

Software 5.40,....as for the box it's pace model, silver with 1 scart out, 1 coax out and phone/wan connector at rear.
Front has 6 buttons left,... 3 led display center.... and 1 button right ,
can't find the manual right now but it could be the 200 series ??

Its the same for me. Paramount Comedy, for example, shows txt on analogue at night, but on digital there's nothing.

If you can't get text on those stations via the digital service then there is something wrong. Strange one alright.

just remembered something, when I had sky digital I had a similar problem,
re-booting the skybox solved the problem but after a while,day or two no
reception of text again,.......might be my TV config, i'll check it out & keep yezz posted.

Yeah, only the eight terrestrial channels carry teletext. Channels such as The Box, Kiss, Smash Hits, Paramount, Sky One, Sky News, Nickelodeon etc. which would normally carry analogue teletext either on NTL's analogue cable service, or on sky digital DON'T carry teletext on NTL digital for whatever reason - probably because they won't fork up for the extra equipment involved to carry it?

I'm on NTL MMDS digital in Galway, and I find that Ceefax on one or both of BBC1 or BBC2 is not available from time to time. Some of the time it's there, other times it's not.... :rolleyes:

Well that's a software problem as lensman pointed out - a box reboot should solve it (only temporarily, of course).

are you running the digital through a VCR or DVD Recorder first..

When i did that... i couldn't get Teletext... but my STB has 2 scarts... the one that say's tv outputs the text transmisions, but the VCR seems to cancel them!

I do have a rather complicated setup of Scart combiners and splitters so that we can get the signal out to a 2nd TV in the kitchen which is connected to the VCR's RF output. The main TV is connected directly to the STB though.

But I do get BBC Ceefax sometimes on both the main TVs - it's just that some days there appears to be no signal.
