    Who are Happycamper and Minnesota?

I shouldn't have played last night, wasn't really in the mood or correct frame of mind. Made two big mistakes, the first of which should have ended my night. Dealt A7s in mid-position, limped in with about 4 others, blinds were 100 / 200 I think. Flop was Queen high with two spades. Someone min raised, two of us called. Turn was 2s, giving me the A-high flush. Decided to slow play it, checked and called now sole-remaining player's raise of 400. River was Qc - I hoped the villain now had her trips and I would take down a nice big pot. She raised 250, I re-raised to 1200 (leaving me with 600), she called instantly and flipped over a house, Queens and Deuces, which I did not see coming. If I would have raised on the turn I think she would have folded, she seemed passive and easy to push off to me. What is amazing is that she (with a large chip lead) didn't put me all in on the river after the reraise, it was bizarre, I was pot-committed.

Amazingly fought back from 3xBB to a 12xBB stack by the next level. Was dealt QJs on the BB, two limpers, including the new chip leader. Flop came QcJc8d and I decided to slow-play it again. Check-check-check, turn was the 8h. Now comes the awful play - got worried (rightfully) and decided to throw in a large bet (considering I was only looking for information at this point, much too large) of 1200. Chip leader calls. To me again, and the play only gets worse, I push my remaining 1400 or so in, a drop in the ocean to him, he calls with K8 to knock me out. Didn't even feel disappointed or angry at myself for the awful play, my head was just not in the right place. The initial decision to slow-play the last hand wasn't the real bad decision I think, not compared to the awful play after the turn.

The quality of play was very low at table 3 last night, half of the players was free-roll quality at best! Yes, I'm including myself in that half.

Playing in a SnG last night.
5 left and I'm in 2rd place. Dealt As, 7d.

    Flop 7s, Ad, 7h!

    Small bet called.
    River ****ing 2nd Q.
All in called and of course I'm out to a house of Queens.

    That sucks, Kev...:)

We'll have to organise a pre / post / during tournie booze-up during the week of the Poker Fest. Where do people drink around at Fitz? Was in O'Donoghue's on Baggot St recently for the first time, seemed a decent spot. Somewhere where the vodka flows like water and the supermodels are drawn to bad poker players like brown envelopes are drawn to politicians...that's where we need to congregate!

You owe me the tenner Mike, although it was a closely run race with Minnesota John knocking me off the chip lead with 4 players left. I came back for second though, with a lad i'd never played against coming first after he came back from tiny stack all in against two players with 92s. I've never been so disappointed. Another great tournament though.

If its the same lady I played at the final table of the 15+R on Saturday, I was lucky enogh to beat her boat of Queens with Quad 6s, so that may explain the call.

Thanks. I must admit i've been extremely pleeased so far as I made the pledge only to play one money tournament a week in the Fitz in the run-up to the exams. Last three weeks I've come third, joint first and second, which has meant a profit of about 1100 euro, so I can't complain.

Stops me playing cash games too!
