Apparently there's been a poor showing of applicants for this years training course. From what I hear its excellent. Apply through http://www.mountaineering.ie/ you want to click on News and then look at Aprils news.
    Chamonix, French Alps Sun 3rd * Fri 8th July 2005 inclusive – 6 days.

This year the MCI is once again offering heavily subsidised Advanced Alpine Training to talented up-and-coming climbers. This unique six-day course will take place in Chamonix and will be run by qualified UIAGM guides Calvin Torrans and Ian Rea.

This is a great opportunity to test your mettle amongst some of the largest ‘boulders’ in Europe! Applicants must be MCI members, aged at least 18 and have at least one Alpine season's experience. Other requirements include rockclimbing * leading at least VS, competence on multi-pitch routes; a high level of fitness and that certain something extra that marks you out from the crowd. Scottish winter experience is a definite asset.

Up to four places will be available for suitable applicants. Preference will be given to those who could not otherwise afford the training and who are most likely to pass on the knowledge gained. Selected applicants will be responsible for their own travel and living arrangements and will contribute €250 towards the cost of the course (roughly 1/4).
