Will PAL DVD's encoded to DivX at 29.97fps and certification 'High Definition' play back on a Philips 630 player which just states 'DivX capable'? I need to know what format to encode my DVD's to ensure compatibility and max quality. :):D:)

will do webmonkey. the only problem is they take ages to encode. try 3 hours on P4 HT 2.8GHz, 1GB ram!!! on this note, why is my CPU only up to 50% while encoding??? I have set the CPU affinity to the first CPU from the task manager for the DR DIVX program???

    try disabling hyperthreading perhaps?

thanks, i'll try disabling it from the boot menu. previously i only disabled it from the task manager, i.e. assigning dr divx to one cpu only.

should i expect much of a performance hit from my other applications?

Why not queue up a few jobs for encoding overnight?

yes, disabling hyperthreading in the bios boosts the encoder cpu usage to 100%.
