How do you know if you have a PCI slot on your PC? I have 2 spare slots on my PC but not sure if they're PCI or not.

You can use that tool to get some system information.

Your best bet is to get a crosshead screw driver and open up the case.
If the card doesn't fit, don't force it :)

Hate to break this to you but..

You would have to open up the PC to use the slots anyway

you could also could see if any memory slots were free while you were in there.
And if you had no idea you could take a few pics with a digital camera.
Note: the software will tell you what is connected to PCI, but things like on board sound card may be on the PCI bus without needing a physical card.

Another way is to see what ports are in use on the back of the PC - but not all cards have external ports.
