    Hello, fellow poker monkeys!

Ok, Hodges Figgis, yes that place on Dawson St, now has some books in stock.
About 20 copies of Super System 2

5 copies of Zen and the Art of poker, another 5 in next week

10 copies of a slight book on hold'em by Sklansky, can't be bothered to remember the name

In a couple of days, probably Thursday, we'll have 5 copies of Harrington on holdem in, with another 5 in next week.

Please ring before going in on 6774754. Ask for the 1st floor poker section, Mark who works there (if he's in a good mood, not too early, not too late)

Sorry to anyone who couldn't find what they were looking for, ring first and ask the staff to check the shelf, not just the computer and then ask them to put one aside for you.

New book called poker aces coming out soon, I've ordered a dozen copies and it should be here in a few weeks, I'll let you know.

    Good luck, D.

BTW, get urselves the new world poker tour 2 on dvd from amazon or play.com. It's brilliant! well worth 40 euro although the 4 dvds may not work on older players or playstation2.

    Farewell poker chimps!

Here Doc quick question. Out of all the above books which would you recommend for the poker player, that has never read a poker book before but who has been playing the game for a bout 5 years with out ever getting too serious. I hear that Zen and the Art of Poker is a good one, but just looking for your opinion aswell.
    Thanks Roddy

"Theory of poker" by sklansky. Best poker book there is.

"winning low-limit hold'em" by Lee Jones. Best low limit book there is.

    Hey man,

My fav book is Zen but it doesn't have any tactics, its just about attitude. I have all the books on poker which is a good start. But if you were only to buy a couple, i'd say, you won't go wrong with Brunson.

Either the original Super System or super system 2. Why not, there about 25 euro, which is a good price.

Everyone's raving about Harrington on hold'em. We just sold our only 5 copies today but will have another 15 next week. Ring first to make sure its there.
Sklansky bores me to tears but some like him. He's good for stats but both Daniel Negreanau and Gus Hanson have repeatedly said that for every point he makes a good player could argue exactly the opposite.

And before any posters argue with me let me say that I don't care. I find his work the lecture of someone who knows all the percentages but none of the magic. And if you want to know what I mean by magic I recommend buying the World Poker Tour 2 from Amazon or play.com for about 40 euro. 4 dvds of great games with plenty of commentary. These dvds wont work on old dvd players or the playstation 2, they're US, but will work on good dvd players.

Donnacha O'Dea said out at the Irish Open that if he gets one good idea from a book than it was worth the price. The zen book has helped me win a few things and more importantly has saved me a fortune in bad calls and lazy tilty thinking. But other people may not get that much from it.

Basically anyone here who is serious about his/her game should buy everything, absorb everything and then forget it and go play their own style.

Hodges Figgis doesnt sell the Poker Tour dvds but I can't recommend them enough. And since Mr. Brunson is in his seventies and still the man why not buy his one.

Negreanu is bringing out a book in a few months. So is Barry Greenstein and a couple of others. Barry Greenstein and Howard Lederer's websites, under their own names, are worth checking out.

Any book that can help you develop your own instinct and train your aggression, even outside of poker, if worth reading. I met my old Aikido instructor today and realized how much I miss training. I'm hoping to go back although I'm so gaddamn lazy.

Train your instincts, trust them and hope to get lucky.

    Good luck, D.
