Ah but, in these cases, isn't it that God just put a 4,990,000 year old bit of rock on the earth when he created it 10,000 years ago?

They are some basalts up in Antrim.

The dolerites up there may be younger, but they are Irish too.

Back on topic, I'm pretty sure that the south/ south-east coast of Ireland has the oldest rocks. basalt is relatively young...metamorphic rock is where the real age is...
