yes it is but since all the numbers are entered into the formula then it cant be too hard to extract them I can count for **** so its impressive in that sense but not wow.
Wonder will it work for a country land line. you know the ones that are 5 digits long or something.

08x - abcdefg

80*abc = 80*abc
+1 =80*abc + 1
*250 =20,000*abc + 250
+defg =20,000*abc + 250 + defg
+defg =20,000*abc + 250 + 2*defg
-250 =20,000*abc + 2*defg
/2 =10,000*abc + defg

then,
Your number = 10,000*abc + defg (duh!)

so if your number is 08x - 1223344

10000*122 + 3344 = 1223344

Yeah when you disect it all, its only basic algebraic substitution, but without the abc's and xyz's it looks much more impressive!

At first readin this i thought "this willl be a cool way to get birds numbers"....

Then i realised that, assuming they are being truthful, the person has already given the number by stage number 5, therefore the rest is merely pointless maths, science wrapped in bullsh1t if you will
