MIDI keyboard question

    Hi there.
I am just getting into writing dance tunes and I have a question about MIDI keyboards. Basically what I want to know is if I create a sound using a software synth in a programme like FruityLoops, can I then export that sound to the keyboard for the purpose of playing melodies and basslines?
    Any help appreciated.

essentially you would use a midi keyboard to controll and play the software synth/sound in Fruityloops etc. I have but never use it, i find it more agreeable to use the piano roll myself. and just input the notes i want

I use the piano roll myself at the moment. I just figured it might be easier to test out melodies with a keyboard as opposed to programming them in. Also I wonder if the keyboard would allow me to play a more sustained note,or is that dependant on the initial length of the original sound?

basically anything you can do with the keyboard, you can do (and more) on the piano Roll. but some people do find it easier to use the keyboard. especially if you play piano a little bit, it feels more natural.
