What do 3rd CA's do if they don't get intra. Do they end up doing projects or what?

yep 6 week project which i heard was simple. i got intra. but then the non intra heads had the summer to themselves and could get real jobs or travel. intra is pretty cool though and a lot of folks get one.

Would love to hear a few more opinions on this. I'm finishing up CA1 now. Was thinkin of doin Intra, preferably in the States. Anyone reccomend goin over to Boston or wherever it is for Intra?

Absolutely. It's a good job, and Boston is a fantastic city.

Apparently the pay is great. The guy goin over this year had some problems with his Visa bein sorted out by the company. They left it too late so he's goin over a month later.

Sounds good. Where exactly are you doing your Intra? When does it finish? What's the pay like?

    well....

step 1. join some random company that wants to take on interns to do their dirty work

step 2. from the start of april to the end of September work for the above mentioned ramdom company

step 3. collect pay check (it's about minimum wage in most places, but it's better then nothing)

    step 4. learn something!

    the end!

think you have to be pretty clever to get a job in the states, but i could be wrong, i know they pay you big money and will give you money back for flights and stuff like that.

BEA in Boston take on (I think) 2 CA3s for intra each year. Good job apparently, well paid, flights are paid for, accomodation is organised and IIRC they also pay for you to sit the Java certification courses. It's supposed to be a terrific place to do Intra in general but you have to be *damn* good at Java to get it. Two interviews (one in person, one by phone) and the first interview is a half HR-type interview and half technical, ie write out the code for a class that implements a binary tree, or some nested SQL statements.
