Pirzepool has increased from €45,000 to €50,000 due to sale of tickets.
Registration is between 17.00 and 18.30 this coming Friday in the Rochestown park hotel. Top three players qualify for the Irish poker tour final, which is a 16 player only €100,000 guaranteed event. Ticket value comes off the total prizefund in the satellite.

Hey i know this is off the subject but just a quick question about your ongoing games in the westwood? is there any plans to perhaps reduce the cost of the tournament?. really enjoy playing it but its getting a bit expensive to play even every 2nd week like im doing.

i think i read 2weeks ago that you were thinking about 50 buy in and 25 rebuy(or maybe smaller) or are you going to stick with the current 75 buy in 50 rebuy?

    thanks

    lol

I was waiting for that question to be asked.

When I was in the Red Cow last week, and saw the amount of people who were shelling out the entry fee, rebuys and then playing Sit and Go's .... I said to myself ...more money then sense.

They were quite a few who would not be back, as they obviously out of their depth.

I would say that once the novelty has worn off, that it could be difficult to sustain the current numbers willing to pay and play at the €50 and €75 satellites....Not a good thing, as the 'sharks' have no fish, prize money is down.

I think less 'well known' hotels that would be glad of the business and offer their facilities for free (there are many)..in return for the food and drink/accomodation sales would be a way for the organisors to keep costs down.....after all a cocktail sausage is a cocktail sausage whichever way you look at it.

The people who can bring poker to the masses at around the €20 mark and still make money for themselves is onto a winner.....maybe it can't be done at that price, and this is where on-line poker comes in.

I'd like to see Poker Events do it, as they've done the donkey work now and have the set up in place ...need to keep an eye on the 'green shoots' though.

Yeah I'm amazed at the low number of rebuys at the events. Like culchie said if you can't afford the buy in + rebuy every week then you're playing out of your depth and shouldn't play it. There are lower buy in events that offer better value in Casinos.

I would like to see less taken in fees. If you rebuy it works out to be 75+30 which is too much expecially considering you pay only a 25 reg at the 250 event. If the payouts weren't so top heavy then this would also make the tournament much better value. The Fitz would normally pay out 18 places in a 200 player event but in Cork last week only 11 got paid from a field of over 200. I did see however that 18 were paid at the red cow this time, but I don't know the total who played. 11th-18th was only 100, I prefer to see an increase in payout with ever place that pays or at the very least every 3 before the final table. The same payout for 18th as 11th isn't fair and it also turns the affair inot an all-in fest once its down to 18.

I'm not sure what the buy in or payouts of STTs at the pokerevents games are but if they offered €20 10 player SnGs with 3 payouts that would be more suitable for most of the players attending these events. It's not likely to be financially viable for them to do that though.

The Sit and Go's are €50 and €100.

The ironic thing is, if you are going to play these, then the smart thing is to play them immediately, because in theory at least, the weaker players will be out first.

I'm not surprised at rebuy level being low, because (a) The amount of fellahs that are out of their depth is unreal ...they learn quickly and (b) If you do get knocked out The Sit and Go is a better investment for your €50 ... you have a good chance of covering your costs, and show some profit easy enough.....as the 5000 chip rebuy is only as strong as the blinds to chips ratio

€20 euro sit and go's would be mobbed ... a ladder type tourney would also go down very well .... Winners from €20 Sit and Go meet at next level etc....

P.S Not knocking the current tourney structure..it is good, but highlighting further potential.

I might be going.......but I doubt it. I'm very much the novice and 275 squids is a lot of seafood.

Some good points culchie, regarding cost of buy-ins, it is steep and if you dont finish in the money, most people would not be able to sustain it on a weekly basis However tournaments are designed for the more series players(this is the idea, whether it's happening is another matter) who have no problem paying high buy-in for high payout. I ve noticed some students just come for the €50 stt, and one or two of them do quite well as ther is a lot of loose money floating about. I think our market is both series players and players with alot of disposable cash(business people/some celebs etc) with a reduced buy-in I think I would lose a fair percentage of these people, even though I may gain your average punter. Overall it's a good mix with some people just treating themselves every second week and this gives it a special occasion feel.
For the meantime I'll stick with the €55 buy-in in cork/Dublin and the €75 in Galway €10,000 guaranteed.
Regarding the sit&go's anything less than a 50 per person is not feasible as the rake is 10%.
A mate of mine (Megs from Sandycove)played Dublin last week and got knocked out after third level played 1x€50 stt came 1st 2x €100 first and second, €800 profit on the night after being one of the first to get knocked out of main tournament. These stt are extremly popular and far better value than any cash games you would normally get at casino's etc.
For Cork €250 all stt will be €100 buy-in.

Fixer, €250 final will be finished by 18.00 saturday, so €100 in Macau with one re-buy was set up for players who are staying for the weekend. I expect this to be a fairly good sized event and certainly one I'm looking forward to playing in. I'll see you there.

There are a few of us heading down from Killarney. Couple of q's... I see reg. closes at 6.30, is there a limit to the no. of players and what time does the tourney start? At what point will play stop on Fri night (ie is it x players left or time) and what time Sat. will play begin? Can you give any indication of allocation of prizes or what final tablers can expect? Would appreciate an answer tonight if poss as our weekly game is tomorrow night and armed with more info. I might persuade a few more to come.

Will the blind structure and starting chips be the same as Galway? If it is it's not going to get down the final 2 tables before 3. I think it was after 2 when it got down to 27 from 145.

Starting chips are 8000 and levels 40mins.
Galway was 152 players and it was approx 02.00am when we were left with 27.
Tornament will be played down to final two tables or untill 03.00a.m which ever comes first.
We may be able to strech the time by about twenty mins.

if you reach the top 3 , can u take the cash instead of the ticket.
how many seats are already filled from the sats ?
any rooms available in the hotel if u make it to the saturday final ?
can u register through CC before friday ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 636 ✭✭✭Pokerevents

Tickets are worth €6250 and if you want cash instead thats not a problem.
However just to tip you off Galway players have being offered up to €7,500 and will not sell. This is 16 player final only with only 9 finalist coming through the super-satellites all other players are from a €10 pub challenge and from vc.poker online. Clearly the advantage for top places will be with satelite qualifiers. Prize fund is €100,000 guaranteed plus package to V.C cup in August, so technically value of tickets is more like €6,750 and with the prestige etc of playing in such a event, I'm not surprised Derek from Galway said "If you offered me €10,000 I'd have to think about it".
He will be one of the favourites to lift first ever Irish poker tour final cup.
Credit card booking is not available but if you can register by six on Firday I'll guarantee you a seat.
Hotal number is 021 4890800 and we have special rate €60 p.p sharing.
You can ring me if you have any more questions 091 799990.
