Got an email in my gmail account...from myself sent to me at 5:50am last night. the email has the following heading: Vote »» Polls 10.04.2005 07:50:04

and its contents were simply: Dear Connla ,

now i dont have any recollection of writing myself an email at this time. So i at first shrugged it of as a virus or bug of some sort.

but my outbo informs me that i have indeed written and sent that email at 5:50am to make matters even wierder the date and time. 10/04/2005 07:50am is almost spot on the time i fell asleep last night/this morning.

no one ele was on my computer at 5:50am because i was playing metal gear solid on my ps2 beside it, so it doesnt seem to be someones form of practical (and flukey) joke.

    any outlandish theories?

or has anyone heard of a virus or bug in gmail to do this sort of thing and it got lucky with the time.

    i love a good mystery.

    Ok My 4 Theorys!

    1) Someone other than you knows your Password and used your account on another computer. Remember using any net cafes or mates computers?

How to Stop: If ya use a computer ANYWHERE other than at home always make sure to log out and not just close the window and when possible clear the cookies. Tools > Internet Options > Delete Cookies

    2) You got yourself a virus (trojin) most prob SubSeven ot something similar. Simply put someoner was controling your computer from another computer.

How to Stop: Run an Anti-Virus Program, Install a Firewall (www.zonelabs.com - FREE), and ask your ISP to change you connection to a DYNAMIC Address this way your IP never stays the same making it harder for hackers to find and control you computer.
(Most DSL, Cable IP's are STATIC.... Stays the same all the time)

    3) You suffer from "jactacio capitis nocturna" a form of sleepwalking where you may carry out everyday tasks as if you were awake.

How to Stop: Trip to the GP :D

    4) Gmail is a fairly new service and is still in BETA some some bugs such as this can be expected. Gmail servers/programs may still have some bugs.

How to Stop: Contact Gmail (https://services.google.com/inquiry/gmail_bugs?referrer=bugflow)

    Hope this Helps! ;)

Did you check the "Don't ask for my password for 2 weeks" option on another machine?

new piece to the puzzle which unravils it all i think.

it seems to be a scary wierd form of spam cause messing around with gmail revelaed (in its original form) the following line:

    Reply-To: info@worlpollcenter.com

therefore it is a messd up yet scarily accurate spam mail...course following up on that address reveals no website with that name.
