    Hey,
I've done a few sites in my time... but they've been more as projects and for fun. I've never went down the road of having to advertise the site or submit it to google/yahoo and so on. I was wondering if anybody has tips on this and/or instructions on the best way to do things.
I'm talking about free advertising not submitting to any companys, so like the meta tags and like.
    Thanks alot :)

(Oh and what do ya think of my lovely under construction page lol here )

    You're welcome :)

Don't forget to manually submit to all the Irish directories, such as:
    search
    browse
and all the others (some are listed on the site I gave you a link to earlier)

    kjt,

Read my search engine optimization articles ( http://seo-ireland.com/search-engine-optimization-articles/articles-list.php ), they will give you a good start.

Also I have a forum devoted entirely to the area of search engine optimization. See the link in my signature 'SEO Forum'

i know that you are not support person for it but you may just know the answer.

i was trying to use submission service but get this error when submitting url

Request for page returned a garbled header (HTTP/1.1 302).

page is CMS build on php so main page address is ..com/index.php

tried different combination but no luck

Ratchet - where did you get that error?

i was going through the motion and came to final url submission page.

You re asked to put your URL , then click on the ENERGIZE button

system is checking my url then returns this error

The URL of your site or page: Request for page returned a garbled header (HTTP/1.1 302). This may be a transient problem, so try it again.

    i did follow the procedure
The URL of your site (or page). Please make this a complete URL specifying an actual web-page (for example, http://www.company.com/index.html, not http://www.company.com/) as this helps some robots find the page more easily

Ah right. You mean on selfpromotion.com :)

I've never had any errors on it. You might want to doublecheck that your webserver is returning the proper response codes or you could disable the URL check if you are absolutely sure of the address.

you right, i will just disable url check and see what happens.

    thx for you advise blacknight

An affiliate tag? Oh, shame, shame, shame... *tuts sadly*

EDIT: Ooh, it's one of the pyramid-y ones. You get money for up to 4 levels deep. All that said tho, it seems to be a decent service.
