Good Irish music for for Distortion pedals

I went to Steamboat Music and Savins in Limerick, and their range of pedals didn't give me quite the sound I wanted. I'm looking for a place that offers a more broad range of stuff.
I want a heavy pedal that has a different sound than the Metal Zone, a more rich thick sound. I play a lot of music from Switchblade Symphony to Metallica and need something to boost my current setup for a "bigger" sound.

I can't really go as far as Dublin or Carlow though. Preferably one in Galway or Cork, or anywhere near Limerick or Clare.

Hmm, that's one pedal that interests me. But I want to know a shop in Ireland where I can get it, that's the thing :D

I'd like to get a sound like the band Lordi - http://www.lordi.org or at least modify my current Metal Tone to sound a little like that.

You could try Music Lane in the parkway but that place is worse than the other two, I suggest going to Dublin for the day and checking out all the places there. Good taste in music by the way :)

Yeah, proco-rat is a sweet deal. or for boss, try a DS1/DS2. Or a marshall jackhammer is a nice heavy one too.

Maybe just get a new amp! Less chance of noise and feedback than relying on pedals, IMO.

The guy in hollywoodempire is selling his marshall valvestate 100WR head and 4x12" cab for €700 in perfect nick. Since theres a tube in the preamp, the distortion is soooo sweet. Two overdrive and one clean channel.

I wouldn't buy pedals from any of the shops in Limerick to be honest. Savins is the biggest rip-off going. I bought my Boss ME-50 second hand for about 180 in perfect nick and it's in savins for around 400 i think. Try www.chrisguitars.com or www.thomann.de it'll save you a nice bit.

Absolutely appalling amp in my experience. No personal offence intended, but I cannot think of a bigger waste of money.

I agree about getting a new amp though. Distortion pedals are very overused. And if the amp is cheap, the pedal will sound like muck anyway.

So that's what they were talking about the other day. Was almost tempted to butt in XD

Seriously though, before I buy it, what's the difference between the Turbo RAT and the others? Because I can get a RAT 2 cheap off eBay right now. I was 2 seconds too late to get a Damn Turbo RAT for cheap. Damn.

What would be a good price for a RAT? For another Turbo RAT that's Buy It Now Altogether it'll cost 90 euros including shipping. Is taht too much?

Also, any good shops at all in Cork?

And I'm already using a massive 250w Peavy AMP. I myself have a ****ty Kustom 10 watt amp (that I brought to college because it's quiet) That i'm going to swap for the nice sounding 40 Watt(Yes, 40) Drive AMP I have at home. Most of the stuff happens on the 250w though. At least I think it's 250. Could be 150.

I much prefer the feel of a pedal, personally, and the way you can chain them, though my Drive AMP has decent OD. Plus, I can't drag a 100 Watt amp everywhere with me. I'm already killing my back running across half of Limerick and Ennis with a guitar bad loaded with a guitar, pedals, and all sorts of other stuff.

I have a RAT2 and our guitarist has a Turbo RAT. I like the RAT2 (though it doesnt say rat2 on it, just rat) its got a reall nice range of distortions. the turbo rat is like a cross between the original Rat and something like a MetalZone (without the ****ness) However, Pro Co have recently released a pedal that has all the RAT pedals built into it. Ive been dying to get my hands on one, but the only way to get it is online.

Deucetone. ****ing great piece of kit, but a little large for my liking. I'd rather not dedicate my money all into one dist pedal that big, I think.

I've got a You Dirty RAT and that sounds really nice too. Maybe all us RAT owners should start a club. And Musician, Inc. in Dublin stock all the RATs I think. I got mine there.
