ink refills and my epson

my black ink cartridge was empty and i refilled it but the printer doesnt see the refill it still says its empty. how an i get it to print with checking to see if there is ink. my printer is an epson cx6400

has your cartridge got a micro chip on it ? if so then you have to by a chip
resetter !! this little gizmo resets the onboard chip to full, see here
