I used to love it, but it was The abseiling that got me. Unfortunately an incurable fear of heights frown.gif

That's interesting, I hate abseiling too, scares me Sh|tless. But I'm new to climbing so I'll reckon I'll get over it in time.

abseilings the best bit, especially backwards where you run down the cliff head first, great when the people your with are mad enough to let you try it smile.gif

I used to climb a bit, abseiling for me was ok.....but climbing down a steep climb....omg!

I've done it a few times. It's a good laugh. I do think the absailing is more fun. First time I did it I nearly broke my nose did'nt lean on the rope and smashed into the wall. Learnt my lesson the hard way and it's great craic whenever I do it.

I haven't been out in about 5 years. I much preferred abseiling too. smile.gif

The best experience I had climbing was with my Dad & 2 other good climbers, we canoed out to Achill Beg (all the gear in the canoes), and climbed out there, class. One of the guys with us was a top Irish climber, unfortunately hadn't been canoeing much, capsized about 30 feet from shore on the way out. smile.gif Lucky the gear was well jammed into his boat! smile.gif

Achill Beg has some mad cliff walls. I shied away from a fair few of the tougher ones.

Just wondering, anyone here ever go to an adventure centre in Mayo called "Skerdagh", it was near Newport?

    Al.

A lot of people seem to have done it in the past [they've gone climbing too wink.gif]. Maybe you should try and get back into it, it's very popular at the moment.

Abseiling is fantastic crack. I only wish there was somewhere near me I could do it (besides the side of a house smile.gif )
