    yes you're a pleb.

    teehee just kidding.

It doesn't really matter which language you lose your virginity on, just once you try to learn proper programming principles, then you can migrate to new languages later on, although in saying that I think Java is a lot more commercially used, and so is probably the better choice.

Delphi pisses on vb (maybe more in the past)- and things could get interesting with Kylix which is basically a Linux port of Delphi

Delphi is also a PASCAL variant. Which is is ok for development but the language was actually designed to teach people how to program properly.

Best place for Delphi components is http://delphi.icm.edu.pl/ - aka Delphi Superpage

    HUGE list of stuff.

for tutorials you could start with DevX - http://www.devx.com

There was another great tutorial site but I can't remember the name of it. . .

I'll post agian if I find it.

Now that we've apparently gotten this Delphi is soooo great vibe out of our systems, I would note that no one bothered actually answering the original question (and I for one would be interested in reading up on Delphi).

Sorry Zaltais - I'm sure that when I replied/posted your post(s) weren't there - and mine didn't appear for at least half an hour.

    Posts are becoming very eratic...
