Old Apple Macs - Free to good homes

    Just came across this forum.....
It happens that I have about 30 old apple macs, mostly proforma 430s and the likes along with about 15x 14" Apple colour monitors (Took 14 of them this morning for tube-reclaim before I seen this forum) and plenty of keyboards and mice for same.... Majority of the pizza boxes are working fine, those that aren't are just dead HDs, likewise most of the monitors are fine. All have been tested and labeled so if you don't want the dead ones fair enough. It would be a shame to scrap these but they have to go (rented accomodation and taking up a full room so no intention of moving them from house to house) so if someone is interested you're welcome to take them away for free as long as you collect them (Here's the snag - 35 miles west of Cork City)... Don't have to take all if you don't want, maybe take two or three (Spares!!) to make it worthwhile. Also, don't have to take any monitors if you don't want them as I can get rid of these for free!
Could be an opportunity for someone to make a small few bob on Ebay if they had the time and inclination....

There was someone who was collecting old Macs for charity. I'll try and let him know about the Mac's. I've posted a link to your post on the Irish Club Mac. Nice little machines.

Cheers but I found his mobile number on that same website and gave him a buzz, really nice guy but they were a bit too old for what he was doing - refurbing old macs and sending them out to African schools.... Decent cause so a pity they weren't any good, would have been nice to see them go to good use instead of being scrapped :(

Are they all 68K or are there any PowerPC ones in there?

Now you're talking gibberish to me as I wouldn't know one old (or new) Mac from the other.... How would one tell? Proforma 630?

Have any of them got "Power Macintosh" on the front of them, or the PowerPC logo (the word PowerPC). Performa was used on both the 68K's and PowerPC Macintoshs.

In general, Performas with 4 numbers are PowerPC, 3 are 68K.

I hear ya - There was two of them ones outa the bunch, gave one to a mate and the other is installed in me kitchen working 8 hours a day as a TV and about another 5 hours as a CD player (Hooked up to a HiFi) flat-out with the last 8 or 9 months without hassle... Mighty machine ;)
